Athletics

Go, Panthers!

The athletics program at LCC Day School promotes sportsmanship, leadership, and a sense of responsibility. By becoming a team player, student-athletes develop lifelong discipline and focus skills. They grow in self-understanding, feel excitement in their activities, and develop an appreciation for competition and teamwork. The athletic abilities and personal growth skills our student-athletes develop follow them into high school and stick with them for a lifetime.

Athletic Clearance Registration

All students interested in participating in athletics at LCC Day School (LCCDS) must complete the Athletic  Clearance process before they may participate in tryouts, practices, or games.

Step 1: Complete the Required Sportsmanship Course
All student-athletes must complete the NFHS Sportsmanship Course as part of the Athletic Clearance process. Once completed, download or save the completion certificate. You will upload the certificate  during registration.

Step 2: Complete the FHSAA EL2 Preparticipation Physical Evaluation
Schedule a physical examination with your healthcare provider using the official FHSAA EL2  Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (EL2) form.

  • Only the official FHSAA EL2 form will be accepted.
  • Physicals completed on any other form cannot be accepted for athletic participation. ∙ The physical is valid for one calendar year from the examination date.
  • Be sure all required sections are completed and signed before uploading the form.

Step 3: Register with Athletic Clearance
Visit https://athleticclearance.fhsaahome.org/ and create an account (or sign in to an existing account). ∙ Use an email address you check regularly, as all clearance notifications will be sent to that email. ∙ Complete all required registration information.

  • List every sport your student plans to participate in during the school year.
    • Please do not select additional sports "just in case." We ask that families register only  for the sports their student currently intends to participate in. If your student decides to  participate in another sport later in the year, simply log back into Athletic Clearance and  add that sport. Registering only for intended sports helps LCC Day School accurately  plan team sizes, coaching assignments, and other seasonal needs.
    • Upload the following required documents:
      • NFHS Sportsmanship Course completion certificate
      • Completed and signed FHSAA EL2 Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (EL2) form

Once all required information and documents have been submitted, families will receive an email  confirming that the application has been submitted and is complete. Students must wait to receive a  follow-up email stating that they have been CLEARED for athletics before participating in tryouts,  practices, or contests.

Submission of paperwork does not mean the student has been cleared to participate.

Fifth Grade Athletics Participation
Fifth grade students may be invited to participate in Middle School athletics when roster space allows. LCCDS makes every effort to provide opportunities for interested fifth grade student-athletes; however, league or host organization roster limits may restrict available positions. For many sports, tryouts begin with students in grades 6–8. If space remains after those students have been
evaluated, fifth grade students may be invited to try out and, if selected, join the team.

LCCDS Athletic Mission Statement

We are a character-based program. Students will develop and improve skills, knowledge, self-confidence, self-respect, respect for others, good sportsmanship, self-discipline, and accountability. We believe that our success is not measured by victories. It is measured by the effort and conduct of every athlete, coach, and spectator.

LCCDS Athletic Philosophy

We view sports as another tool to help develop the whole person. Through a student's participation in interscholastic sports, our goal is to further develop the student spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially. The emphasis of our program is based on dedication, desire, and effort, rather than just winning. Our programs are designed to teach students the importance of teamwork, discipline, resilience, sportsmanship, and grace under pressure. The real strength of our athletic program comes from believing that "giving one's best effort" is the foundation for success, not only in athletics but in all aspects of life.
